Frage eines BACKERS:
That is part of the description of the Retaliator on the "Ships" page on RSI. You may notice that it says there are 5 x Class 4 hardpoints on the ship and yet there are 8 Behring M5A Laser Cannon turrets that come standard on the Retaliator. This is obviously a typo or oversight. How many hard points are there and how many Behring M5A Laser Cannon turrets come standard on the Retaliator?
Also, the max cargo on the Retaliator is 30 tonnes (bomb-load) and the Constellation has a max of 35 tonnes. I know that the measurement used will change from tonnes to something else, but the comparison is still valid.
Retaliator Max Crew = 6 vs Constellation Max Crew = 4. Retaliator Mass (empty) 89,000 kg vs Constellation Mass (empty) 75,000 kg.
How can a ship that is apparently significantly larger than a Constellation have a smaller cargo hold, especially considering it is supposed to be able to store a large payload as the UEE's premiere bomber? I'm curious if this is another typo or mistake.
Antwort DEVELOPER:
The masses are all derived actual aircraft, IIRC... the Retaliator is a B-29 (maybe?) and the Constellation some kind of transport plane.
It's larger than the Constellation because it's covered in turrets and armor. The cargo is a hack, ripping out what should be a bomb delivery system and filling it with crates. The Constellation is custom-designed for the job and so is more efficient.
That's five turret emplacements, with some of them being dual turrets. Think a B-17, with twin guns on the chin/ventral/ball points and single waist guns. (... and there's a tail turret, I know...)
